Top 25 teams Hoyas, Blue Devils battle Saturday
The No. 7 Duke Blue Devils (17-3, 13-6 ATS) take on the No. 11 Georgetown Hoyas (15-4, 8-7 ATS) in a Top 25 College Basketball tilt on Saturday (1 pm ET, CBS). In this series Duke has won 4 of the last 5 but Georgetown has covered four, and the Hoyas will look to avenge last seasons, 76-67 (+9′) loss.
The Hoyas will have 4 days rest after the loss to #4 Syracuse snapping a 5-game win streak over ranked opponents. The Hoyas are led by Freeman (16 ppg), Monroe (14.8 ppg, 10.1 rpg) and Wright (14.6). Wright has been held to single digits in all 4 losses. Both step outside conference play with this being the 1st of a 3 game home stand for the Hoyas.
Duke is coming off a win over a feisty Florida State team and has held their last two opponents to 51.5 ppg. Duke is lead by their “Big 3”, Jon Scheyer, Kyle Singler and Nolan Smith, who together average 53 ppg this season. Scheyer and Singler combined for 26 pts & 20 rebounds vs the Hoyas last year.
The popular bet is on Duke (7-2 ATS FAV), but they are 2-3 ATS on the road and with the ACC Title in reach Coach K has the task of keeping the team focused with #22 Georgia Tech on deck. These teams are sound defensively and if GTWN can stay disciplined (25 TO’s vs Syr), they’ll have a shot at adding to their 9-1 (3-4 ATS) record at home.
