NCAA College Basketball: Wisconsin Badgers Season Preview

The Wisconsin Badgers will have plenty of new faces in the lineup when they open the 2010-11 NCAA College Basketball in a couple of weeks.

Ranked No. 24 in the nation at the end of last season, the Badgers finished with a 24-9 SU overall record last season, and 13-5 SU in the Big Ten.

That put them fourth in the conference, and the Badgers went on to lose in the quarterfinals of the 2010 Big Ten Tournament. But Wisconsin received an at–large bid to the 2010 NCAA Tournament, and went in as the No. 4 seed in the East Region. They opened with a win over No. 13 seed Wofford in the first round and were then upset by No. 12 seed Cornell in the second round.

Wisconsin will not have its 2nd and 3rd leading scorers from last season, losing seniors Trevon Hughes (15.3 points, 2.6 assists and 4.5 rebounds per game) and Jason Bohannon (11.6 points, 2.2 assists, 3.6 rebounds).

But Wisconsin will return Jon Leuer, a 6-10 power forward who was the team’s leading scorer and rebounder last season (15.4 PPG, 1.6 APG, 5.8 RPG).

The Badgers will also rely heavily on Jordan Taylor. The point guard had a huge season last year and will be expected to continue his progress.
