Maryland Terrapins Take on Villanova Wildcats Saturday

The Maryland Terrapins of the ACC travel to take on the Big East power Villanova Wildcats Saturday in a key inter conference match up. The Terrapins have crawled to a slow start as they head into conference play in the always tough ACC and Villanova has flexed their muscle early in the season.

Villanova is led by hot shooting senior guard Corey Stokes. Stokes is hot in every aspect of the offense. He is hitting 48 percent from the field and 46 percent from behind the three point arc. Playing Stokes tough does not help the opposition either since Stokes is the best free throw shooter on the Wildcats.

Sophomore forward Jordan Williams is the best player on the Terrapins this season. He is averaging 18 points per game and shooting 57 percent from the floor. Don’t expect Williams to throw up any bombs from three point territory though. He has not hit a three this season and has never attempted a three in his career. A true big man who knows his place on this team, Jordon is a force under the bucket on both ends of the court and averages 11 rebounds per game.

The best defensive players for the Wildcats have been Mouphtaou Yarou and Corey Fisher. Yarou leads the team in blocks with 19 and the speedy Fisher leads the team in steals with 26. Honorable mention on defense goes to Antonio Pena with 15 steals and 13 blocks as the most well rounded defensive player.
